About Soroptimist Internatioal Lira

Soroptimist works through women volunteers who have subscribed to the club membership and to offer their skills, knowledge, expertise and resources to serve other women and girls who are less privileged in the communities. A soroptimist therefore is a woman who wants to give women and girls better access to learning opportunities; a woman who really cares about women’s rights and a woman who wants to help other women to have better health care and food security.

Soroptimist will work to inspire action and create opportunities to transform the lives of women and girls through a global network of members and international partnerships. The programme of action or projects will involve education, empowering and creating enabling opportunities. It will also include fund raising, awareness creation, service and lobbying. In doing this, the expected outputs will be improved lives and status of women and girls, hence a contribution to bridging the gender gaps that exist in our communities.

Soroptimist is therefore committed to a world where women and girls together achieve their individual and collective potential, realize aspirations and have an equal voice in creating strong, peaceful communities worldwide.
